i love the look of the trim trouser but i believe that more than many styles they could be the hardest to master......so i grabbed fashionista and shopper extraordinaire lara carter and we went on a search .....and you will never guess where we ended up and styled 5 looks!!!!!
banana republic!!!!
and i must say i was extremely happy with the looks .....and the prices!!! oh my!!!!
we have 5 very different looks that can take you from the office to seaside.......and again did i mention....all in one place and the prices were so do-able!!!
so without further ado.....let's take a look...
look 1
in this look we found a light blue linen trim trouser with a cuff and because the length is a little long we paired with a nude heel to elongate her leg and not cut her in an odd place....then we paired the trouser with a dark grey sheer tank and an "mj" inspired jacket with gold detail....a long gold necklace and she is ready to go!!!!
look 2
for this look we chose a shorter version of the trim trouser, this pair is also significantly slimmer....we paired this trouser with a grey t-strap heel and a pink silk tank, over a sheer white tank, and finished the look with a man's seersucker vest and a strand of pearls.....this look is a great example of taking pieces inspired by men's wear and making them feminine. the trouser being slim as well as the silk fabric and pearls play well against the structured vest and the classic straight trouser.
look 3
for this look we pulled in a version of the harem pant...grey silk full/trim trouser with a fold over waist band......we tucked in a white tank and pulled in a knit cardi that is pulled in at the waist and pinned.....with a pant that is a full/trim fit you will need to keep everything else fitted and not overly baggy otherwise the look will appear messy!!!
look 4
with this classic olive trim trouser we paired a beige utility jacket and threw in an orange cardi for a pop of color and a snakeskin bag..don't be afraid to bring in multiple layers to find your perfect look.......i have found that many items i have a hard time with can work if layered with other pieces.....sometimes one added layer is all you need!! and of course a cool fedora!!
look 5
this is "super chic trim trousers at the office"
the classic trouser looks clean and business, as does the grey blazer....but....with the tie at the waist and the striped sweater layered under the blazer and the lime green scarf we have made a very professional, and dare i say boring ensemble look fab!!!
so ladies go out and get yourselves a pair of trim trousers and in the words of tim gunn,
"make it work"
