The design forecast, like the fashion forecast, is a tool to sort through all the design noise and find your true design style and create a space you truly love!!!!

I have partnered with photog wizard Tony Gibson to give you a glimpse of how a number of clients have, with our guidance created their dream home and made their homes uniquely theirs. 

A place they all say they don't want to leave, and love coming "home" to!!

Baby it's GREY inside......

We all know that interior design follows trends just as fashion does...and a lot of times there is quite a bit of overlap.....but for some reason trends translate a little differently inside your home than they do on any even given Tuesday on the street....

The reason, I believe, is because when you buy that blouse that your celebrity icon was photographed wearing or you saw in a "must have for fall" article, and you wear it on that given Tuesday you may likely realize it is just not "you"...
But, never fear, your fashion obsessed friend will be happy to accept the offering and take it off your hands, and maybe even trade you for one of her pressured buys...

Gray nail polish has been a trend for a while now, and as the weather cools I will be "picking my color" in the gray tones again this season, even though I wore out "You don't know Jacques" for 2 seasons!!!
Honestly I am somewhat looking forward to gray nails again this fall!!!
So why are things so different in your home?

Color does evoke feeling ....
and when you walk in your front door at the end of a long day how do you want to feel?
If your answer is...."I want to feel like it's just a normal day in Seattle," then my response to that would be.....
"Don't delay!! Run out to your nearest home improvement store and grab a few gallons of Revere Pewter and one happy home body you will be!!!"

Please don't misunderstand... I am a lover of neutrals...especially in interiors.....
AND
I do also love gray
BUT.....
Does gray make you FEEL good when you come home at the end of a long day?
The first thing I ask when I enter a home for a consult with a new design project is..
"What is the function of this room?"
Our home is where we go to escape, to be with the ones we love the most, and to recharge for what's next....
Does gray help you recharge?
If so....then go back up to the previous part of this post that recommends you run out and grab some gray paint and get painting....but if not...then here is a fun suggestion...
Go to the paint wall and see what colors draw out good feelings, what pulls you in, what colors make you smile?
Grab a few swatches of those smile-inducing colors, take them home and see how they look in your favorite room, in natural light as well as lamp and overhead light and THEN decide....
which one evokes the feeling you want to experience when you come home from a long day....
BE BRAVE!!!
BE DIFFERENT!!!!
BE YOU!!!!
AND....
LOVE THE SPACE YOU CALL HOME!!!

The Fashion Forecast has taken a break for a while now......

BUT.....

WE ARE BACK!!!!

We have made a few changes,because it has been over a year and other than being a little older, the overall forecast of things has changed.

We are still going to be fashion focused, but we are no longer just going to focus on apparel.

We are expanding into interior design!!!

Just as you send a message out into the world everyday when you walk out your front door, your home speaks to you when you walk back in that same front door at the end of a long day.

I have thought since I was a little myself that the beauty in all things had to first be identified and then drawn out. 

That is what we are going to do here.....

Draw out the beauty in YOUR world....

IN and OUT of the Closet!!!

SPRING TIME PREP

I know it doesn't feel like Spring is only 3 days away.....

BUT

it is!!!

I for one am ready for it!!!

...and from what I am hearing.....most everyone else is too.....

So let's get  our closets ready...

My go-to prep for any season is always the Pantone color report

and I must say

I am super excited about what we have to look forward to on March 20th!!!

I hope you are as excited as I to welcome Spring into our closets with the palette below.....

so many graduates!!!!

graduation is now such a huge celebration

 for so many milestones 

that before only required 

a pat on the back and a "good luck next year"

graduation from kindergarten

graduation from 1st grade

graduation from 5th grade

graduation from 6th grade

graduation from 8th grade

the list goes on and on.....

and on.......and on......

and then there is high school

college

grad school

dental school

law school

medical school

just listing these overwhelms me!!!!

i have struggled with what to get an 8th grader for graduation and i think i have found a gift that would be great for any of the above occasions.....

i think patron saint medals are a great gift at many points in a persons life....

and there are many saints for various specific purposes 

so finding the perfect saint medal for your graduate can and should be fun 

and be something special they treasure for years to come....

i have chosen a st. christopher medal for my graduate

(st. christopher is one of the more popular medals.....the legend goes.....

"before the 1969 reform of the Roman calendar.....

christopher was listed as a martyr who died under decius...

 nothing else is known about him....

 there are several legends about him including the one in which he was crossing a river when a child asked to be carried across.......

when christopher put the child on his shoulders he found the child was unbelievably heavy......

the child, according to the legend, was Christ carrying the weight of the whole world.....

 this was what made christopher patron saint of travelers and is invoked against storms, plagues, etc..")
